Bukichi Inoue my sky hole 79 peephole on the sky 1979
Here a square brown iron box measuring about 2 meters square and a transparent glass box have been installed, with a short distance between them. Its creator, my sky hole 79 peephole on the sky Bukichi Inoue, has created works of varying size and shape such as this one around the theme of my sky hole since 1978. This work is not just a display where you observe the piece. The work is the experience of the viewers themselves. Viewers go underground through the brown iron box and come back to above ground from the transparent glass box. There is a narrow passage underground, and when you walk through this passage, you find a small circular room on the right. By sitting on the small, round chair found in the room and gazing upwards, you find that this is where my sky hole opens up. It seems as though you have become a baby looking outside from the inside of your mother’s womb. According to its creator, my sky hole is “Where I can listen to the earth’s pulse on my own, where I can meditate on the universe alone.” Please feel free to enjoy your own experience alone.
